Kiwanis International announces Key Leader—a new leadership experience for today's youth leaders. It will focus on service leadership as the first, most meaningful leadership development experience. A Key Leader will learn the most important lesson of leadership—leadership comes from helping others succeed.

This year's Kentucky-Tennessee Key Leader event will be held at Camp Wesley Woods in Townsend, Tennessee on the weekend of April 24-26, 2009. Justin Ward will be the Site Coordinator for this event. This event is open to all students in grades 8 through 12.

The 2009 District Chairs for Key Leader are Bob Hillhouse and Jack Lee.

The cost, per participant, for the 2009 event is $175 for non-Key Club members and $150 for Key Club members. The deadline for registering is April 10, 2009. All registrations after that date will incur a $25 late-fee.

  • Key Leader is designed for multiple students from the same school-those who are already student leaders and those with leadership potential.
  • Key Leader is designed to begin a process of personal leadership growth and development as opposed to being a weekend event that is forgotten weeks or months later. It will be a life-changing experience.
  • Key Leader is designed to open doors to leaders as young as recent eighth grade graduates. Leadership development shouldn't wait.
  • Key Leader is designed to teach what it means to be a youth leader in three different communities: the local community; the state or national community; and the global community.
